Online Therapy

Over the past decade and especially the past couple of years, online therapy has grown and become increasingly popular.

Online therapy, also known as telehealth, e-therapy, distance therapy, virtual therapy, and web therapy is receiving mental health therapeutic services via the internet.

There are many perks of online therapy, such as being at home, not having to worry about traffic, parking, and waiting in the waiting room. Online therapy can eliminate a lot of barriers such as having to find childcare, the anxiety of physically going to a therapy office, limited availability of local therapists, and demanding schedules that make it tough to take time out of the day to go to a therapy appointment.

Is online therapy effective?

A big concern for many people is if online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. A variety of different studies have found that overall online therapy can be helpful with many people reporting a high level of satisfaction.

Online therapy is not for everyone

Many mental health concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and parenting struggles can be treated online.

Online therapy is not for someone who is in crisis, has thoughts of hurting oneself or others, or has difficulties with reality, such as hearing voices or seeing things (in a psychotic episode). If you have thoughts about hurting yourself or others please call 911 or the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.

Is online therapy right for me?

If you are interested in therapy and not sure if online therapy is right for you, you can contact me for a free 15 minute consultation. One of the most important aspects for progress in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. It is important that you feel comfortable with me and that it is a right fit. In the consultation call we will briefly talk about what brings you to therapy, goals for yourself and how I intend to help you reach your goals.
